How it all began?
People often ask us about how we started in the tourism business or do we just manage Alpine Park. Back in 1979 Curtis’s parents and grandparents bought their first holiday park in Cornwall and moved down from the Midlands. Curtis worked with his parents from a young age and decided to go full time into the family business after his A Levels.
In 1992 I stayed at the holiday park whilst on a family holiday, as they say the rest is history! After a long-distance romance Curtis and I were married in 1995. In 1999 the arrival of Helen made our family complete. In February 2006 we sold the family holiday park in Cornwall after Curtis’s parents retired.
We purchased Alpine Park Cottages in May 2006; back then we just had 6 cottages, over the last 16 years we have built a further five cottages (Premier 4 & 6 person) upgraded the existing cottages, and installed a play area for our younger guests.
During the week Curtis spends most of his time outside keeping the grounds looking neat and tiday, where as my time is spent mainly in the office taking the bookings and dealing with the enquiries. Helen our daughter is now a secondary school teacher, however she still helps out during the school holidays.
As we are open all year; the summer months are hectic with changeovers and maintaining the grounds, it is during the winter months we get the opportunity to do maintenance work inside the cottages. All the cottages are spring cleaned, which includes washing all the duvets, pillows etc. Curtains and carpets are cleaned. All cottages are redecorated every two years we replaced the children's play area. During the winter of 2021, we replaced the kitchens in the Premier | 6 person cottages, upgraded the WiFi, and installed 2 x EV Charging points.
In 2019 we were announced Finalist at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards and are delighted to announce that we received a Bronze award in the Self Catering Accommodation Provider of the year award. In 2022 we received our 10th consecutive certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor, thanks to the wonderful reviews of our lovely customers.
