Walking

East Devon is wonderful for walkers of all levels offering stunning country and coastal walks to suit everyone.

We are proud to be running our business in a National Landscape  Formerly East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Our business is within a mile of the East Devon Way, a long distance walking trail through the heart of this beautiful countryside, the area covers 267 sq km from Exmouth to Honiton and Axminster to Lyme Regis. We hope you enjoy visiting us in this lovely part of the country.

The coast here is magnificent, and you can combine a walk along the top of the cliffs with a riverside stroll along the River Otter - which is a haven for thousands and thousands of birds. Why not stop off at Otterton Mill for one of their cream teas!

Otter Estuary

Completed in 2023 the Lower Otter Restoration Project now makes it even easier to enjoy the circular walks to Otterton where you can stop off for a bite to eat at The King's Arm or Otterton Mill, an ancient working mill and crafts space.

Or simply enjoy a walk around the Estuary. The River Otter Estuary covers an area of 33 hectares and along with the cliffs of Otterton Point is designated a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the fine salt marsh habitat it supports and the adjacent Triassic sandstone rocks of considerable paleontological interest. Part of the area is also a Marine Conservation Zone.

Remember to take your binoculars!

Walking

The South West Coast Path runs all the way round from Minehead in Somerset on the north coast to South Haven Point near Poole in Dorset on the south and includes all 95 miles of the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Site, The Jurassic Coast, where fossils can be found dating back to prehistoric times.

As well as the views, the path also boasts some fantastic flowers and wildlife - May is a good time to see the coastal flowers at their best. Seabirds are also highly visible, as well as other bird life.
